...as John Astin's recurring character in Night Court used to say (usually in reference to his time in a mental hospital).

I took a deep breath, hopped on my bike, rode to the library and spend a couple of hours reading Popular Mechanics and Scientific American. A most excellent combination to induce Mellow.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with both sympathy and advice -- especially [livejournal.com profile] cargoweasel, who basically advocated the "kick ass and take names" school of job hunting which I've paid lip-service to and have yet to actually implement. I've had ideas on how to retool the resume and hype myself more in it -- I may turn that into a full-fledged reformatting.

I need to do that. Last time I did... Well, at least I got an interview. That's saying something anymore.

I don't know, but I think job hunting is one of the most depressing things that one can undertake at times. Lots of rejection, with a lot on the line. You need to back away when it gets to be too much, take a deep breath, and plunge in again.

If you find something that works, let me know. I have a job now, but I want to know what you find that works on a resume.

Oh, and I've not heard anyone quote Night Court in a long time. I remember that line well. :)

There is no quick and easy way to do job hunting. Keep slogging, don't let it get to you, and remember that 'networking' with friends and associates can be one of the best ways to find good prospects....

Here in Oregon good jobs are extremely scarce, but with a good resume you can beat all odds. Whereever you are looking for work just get your foot (or paw) in the door with your resume, then charm the heck out of em'
You can do it! :)
