athelindOne of the anomalies in my mostly-liberal political alignment is my stand on the Second Amendment. I think that the Right to Bear Arms is as important to maintaining our freedoms as any of the others enumerated in the Bill of Rights. This article captures some of that position eloquently.

Whenever I bring up the idea that the 2d Amendment is there in part so that we can protect ourselves from the government, I frequently get laughed at. After all, the Gummint has a lot MORE guns, and BIGGER guns, and lots of destructive technology that mere citizens could never lay its hands on.
And it's always proved OH SO EFFECTIVE against a guerilla underground, hasn't it?
