Shake shake shake!
Aug. 23rd, 2011 11:31 amWord is that there was a 5.9 earthquake in Virginia a few minutes ago. That's a sizable shake even by California standards, and back East, the waves travel a lot farther. Any of you Easterners feel the shakin'? Any damage?
The USGS has a quake site where you can make reports, but I'm at work and don't have it bookmarked.
Hope everyone's all right and isn't too freaked out. You guys getting quakes is like us getting blizzards.

Date: 2011-08-23 06:34 pm (UTC)And yes, reported it to USGS, my dad used to work there so I knew about it.
No damage here, just a lot of frazzled nerves, mine included. Hope my cats are okay.

Date: 2011-08-26 05:26 am (UTC)Upon noticing that I was from California, he asked me, "Aren't you afraid of earthquakes?"
My response was: "You live in Kansas. I would rather stand in a doorway and have my house collapse around me in an earthquake than have the entire house picked up and hurled away by a tornado!"
