If you're excited about success AT the thing you want to be successful at, how can anyone tell the difference?

Pretty much, yeah.

The people I've known who were very interested in success at... success... (metasuccess...?) have long amused me.

But then I guess motivational speakers and people who make motivational posters have to start somewhere right? c.c;

People who are more excited about success than doing the thing they want to be successful at are the type of people who think embarrassing yourself on reality television is a good idea.

Which is really a lot of the weird tangle of emotions with art. I think everyone who wants to make stuff desperately wants to be successful - but ultimately everyone who's doing art wants to make stuff, and making stuff doesn't always synch up with being successful.
