Friends, I appreciate your concern, but just because I take a while to answer pages and ICQ messages and have a preference for periods instead of exclamation points does not mean that I'm depressed. I use my computer for a lot of things, and sometimes, gasp, I'm not even sitting at the keyboard continuously.

Brief, irregular replies don't mean I'm down in the dumps or something's wrong -- quite to the contrary, more often than not, they mean that I'm actually distracted and engaged by something aside from the chat services.

And by and large, that's a good thing.

This is one part of your converstional dynamic which I've come to understand, at length. Which is why I haven't been initiating contact as much lately.

Hmm. That might have come out a bit wrongly. Terseness does that. I meant that understanding this, I've tended to initiate contact less when you seem to be entering periods of busy. It ends to lead to insistence upon response on my part that, when not reciprocated, tends to lead to irritation. So for mutual sanity... I tend not to start things. Or something. Yeah.
