Song of the Day: Traveller in Time
Jun. 2nd, 2010 11:22 pmOne last post before I call it a day:
A little Uriah Heep. You may be hearing more of them from me; there's something in the air this summer. Maybe it's just the unusual humidity; I first heard Heep in Texas, whilst flunking out of Texas A&M.
Traveller in Time
Uriah Heep
from the album
Demons & Wizards
Every day I have to look to the sun
To see where it was that I have come from
I have a feelin' that there must be a time
When I'll get a chance to go home
'Cause I'm so tired of being here alone
But I'm just a traveller in time
Trying so hard to pay for my crime
If I could go back the same way I got here
And see the people that I once held so near
I'd do my best to find an answer for you
But first I must wait 'til I'm set free
And I don't know how long that's gonna be
'Cause I'm a man with a whole lot on his mind
Just out there somewhere travelling in time
Travelling in Time
I've tried for so long to find
Some way of helping mankind

I'm not sure I could handle King Crimson, though.

Date: 2010-06-07 11:56 pm (UTC)The majority of karaoke places can only use songs that have been made available for karaoke by the artist's companies, which for some groups is an extremely short list. I would personally ADORE some additional Oingo Boingo songs in a KJ's selection, but there are only about 6 that have ever been released and of those, only two are commonly found: Little Girls and Dead Man's Party.
Generally speaking, if the song didn't go mainstream, it is a rare find... although now that lot of KJ's are finding their songlists over the internet and doing a little re-mastering of their own to make private selections of tracks, its getting easier to find specific KJ companies and groups that have extended playlists for their favorite artists. There's a company out here, for instance, that has at least 25 non-cropped Meatloaf tracks that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.
Sadly, they lost their local Saturday night location, so I'm not sure where they migrated to.
