(Yeah, I'm posting a lot today. I'm thinky.)
Every few years, I come back to this question; for the first time, though, I've got a different answer.
For years, I wanted Kelsey Grammer for Athelind, but I think Your Obedient Serpent has finally moved past mere self-conscious pomposity.
Just as
jirris_midvale wanted someone who could swing between the two poles of his personality, I've found someone who can capture the full binary range of Athelind's psyche:
When Athelind is up, he's impassioned, sincere, and inspiring, much like Cullen's most famous role.
And when he's not ... Cullen has that covered, too. You can just hear him say stuff like "any day where you don't have brain damage is a victory", "so far, so good", and other, similar gems from my Argot entries, can't you? Really, some of those only really carry their full weight as Athespeak when said in that voice.
As always, comments are open -- who's your voice?
Edit 05 June 2010: You know, when I think about it, Argot entries tend to be in Eeyore's voice, while Feed Your Head entries lean toward Prime.

When they make an animated movie of FurryMUCK / Second Life / The Internet / Your Favorite Tabletop RPG, who should voice your alter-ego?

Peter Cullen.

Date: 2010-06-02 06:02 pm (UTC)Lados Nightflame, Dinosaur Warlock: Tommy Shaw, from Styx. Lados has a very clear and distinct tenor, and his native language is very tonal: it's as much song as speech.
Lord Nikulai, Bat Diplomat: David Hyde Pierce, in his "I am bemused by this and every other situation" Abe Sapien mode.
KLDR-4077, Medical Droid: David Hyde Pierce, again, shifting rapidly between Niles Crane's "calm clinical analysis" and "utterly flustered" modes.
Vasimr Kayle, Human Gunslinger Pilot: Kurt Russell.

Date: 2010-06-02 06:23 pm (UTC)Dave Thomas--and not the burger guy, either. Lou was originally based on Thomas' Doug McKenzie character, so this bit of casting is a no-brainer.

Date: 2010-06-02 10:41 pm (UTC)Maybe you have a better idea of what I sound like than I do, but in my opinion I talk with a horrible nasality that's as if I tried to reshape a steering wheel with my nose... which I did. I've thought of taking some kind of remedial classes or something to try to fix that.

Date: 2010-06-02 10:48 pm (UTC)I had no idea why I could hear Derrick so clearly, or why he sounded familiar to me. It turns out that his voice is that of a co-worker I admire tremendously. It was from my friend Malcom-- see, even the Scots name coincides-- that I got Derrick's quiet voice, formality, and utter unflappability. Think, Abe Sapien, maybe, but softer and with a bit less inflection to things. Derrick's propensity to employ excessively extensive verbiage is strictly something I inflicted upon him, however.
Anyhow.. suggestions for voice actors welcomed.

Why, yes, I did just watch a certain movie again. Why do you ask?

Date: 2010-06-03 02:22 am (UTC)Me pretending to be a dragon would probably sound more like me, I would think. *giggles*
However, when I used to combine the two on alt.fan.dragons, I always thought I sounded like Eartha Kitt. Now, there was a women who could purr when she talked. :)

Date: 2010-06-03 07:39 am (UTC)Terminotaur: Andreas Katsulas somewhat in the role of G'Kar (maybe an octave lower)
Terminotter: A toss up here as I'm still trying to decide if I want him more fun or serious, but both voices are by James Arnold Taylor. Either a bit like his Obi Wan Kenobi from Clone Wars, or his Ratchet from the Ratchet & Clank games.

Date: 2010-06-05 04:12 pm (UTC)But for Araquan... Hmm. I kind of imagined various types over the years, but these days I'm almost thinking Rob Paulsen in a sort of TMNT Raphael kind of vein. But, as ever, still fed through a vocoder to give the voice a sort of metallic but musical resonance. Figure something like the opening announcement for the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland rather than Soundwave's low monotone.
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY CHARACTER
Date: 2010-06-05 04:59 pm (UTC)Besides, Kildare's entire character arc has become "Pinocchio gets dragged kicking and screaming into Becoming A Real Boy." When I role-play error messages for a character whose gestating free will keeps conflicting with his programed behavioral constraints, a slightly tinny overtone to his voice seems entirely appropriate.
