I got home and read my comments.

I'm just ...

I mean ...

I ...

Aw, screw it.

What the hell, it's not like I can make things WORSE:

It's short for "Athelind".

Oh, trust me, you could make it worse. :p

And if you didn't say things to get my blood up . . . what else would I post about on my journal?!

Hey, is that a graven idol, and if so is that how we should portray you?

So now I have an urge to find an orange and purple dragon Beanie, and name it Athe, because... so yeah.

All hail Athelind! We must show our devotion with offers of chocolate and cookies. For as the dragon grows, so does our POWER. :D

We can't worship you -- you're tangible!

We have to have something intangible so we can manipulate it out of context to justify our own set of social hang-ups and bigotry, all while claiming these character faults are actually dogma that cannot be questioned without first challenging our faith.

Plus, in America, I'd still have to pay taxes on anything relating to my observance of the Church of Athe :P

Are there really court precedents denying tax-exempt status to sects that have an incarnate deity? Citation needed!

(Besides, I'm not tangible. My vessel is tangible.) (Quiet, you.)

No citation -- only common sense of human failings: the US courts will not accept what you say unless you are wealthy enough to benefit their acceptance of you.

...oh -- and as a precaution to either yourself (if you are a false profit), or to your religion (if you want it to outlast your 'vessel') -- you might want to outline what consequences (if any) will befall those who seek to destroy your 'vessel'.

My advice: Take a note from Pat Robertson and pre-blame hurricanes.

I suspect the consequences would be... rather more targeted at the specific individuals involved. c.c

That would be common sense, and follows the legal structure of our society. But it wouldn't go to prove divinity or grounds for worship. Humanity always kills their gods first, in order to make those gods into their gods.
