My journal says I'm 64% masculine.
What does your LJ writing style say about your gender?

...odd that an algorithmic quiz can get that right just based on the name, when I've had people online assume that "Athelind" was a female name (despite my continual use of the masculine pronouns).

Kinda makes you rethink Turing Tests, doesn't it?

Update [10:27]: Ah, my bad. It analyzes word selection in recent entries.

And mine ALSO says I'm about 64% masculine - and thus, probably male.

*grins*

So much for being female.

Well...

The Turing Test is one of the finest examples of human arrogance there is. It equates "intelligent" with "human-like".

Hmm...how would I put together a test for Artificial Humanity? I'm sure there's a political joke to be made there, somewhere...

I don't know if I'd call it "arrogance" -- more "a stab in the dark". Alan Turing was anything BUT anthropocentric when it came to machine intelligence; he proposed the Test as an attempt to deal with the people who didn't believe "thinking machines" were even POSSIBLE. As the very first attempt to establish any kind of criterion at all, it doesn't do too badly.

Amusingly, according to Wikipedia, Turing based his test on "...a party game where guests try to guess the gender of a person in another room by writing a series of questions and reading the answers sent back." I didn't know that when I mentioned it in this context.

Even more amusingly, in this case, the MACHINE is the one administering the "Test" to the HUMANS....
