Does anyone out there know how to open/convert/break down an .avb avatar file from the old, old Microsoft Comic Chat program? Way back in the Dark Ages, Malathar made a custom file for me, and I'd like to convert the various emotions and gestures into LiveJournal icons.

No help here

Wow. I'd forgotten about Comic Chat.

All I can suggest is, if you can still open it in the comic chat avatar editor, there may be some way to export ...?

I wonder if there's a Linux version ... .

You could try running it in WINE... It's a crapshoot as to whether it'd actually work though.

Avid Xpress opens those files, as does the comic chat avatar editor already mentioned above. I'm not sure if Avid Xpress is a free download however.

If you're running a different OS than the comic chat thingie, you could always get us to try and export and convert it to something usable.

Really? I'd gotten the impression that the Avid .avb was a different file format than the MCC .avb.

Oh it could be, I suppose. It did say their .avb was for compressed media files and the like. So it could be the same. :3

This website doesn't seem useful for the task at hand (nor any of the others I've been browsing) because it doesn't have any details of the actual file structure or information on programs that could convert it to a different file type (or set thereof).
