State of the Dragon: A Grand Day Out

Here it is, the Winter Solstice again. Since quelonzia and I were married on the Summer Solstice of 1997, I guess that makes this is our twelfth-and-a-half anniversary -- an eighth of a century.

Today, we had our first real date together since I moved out: lunch, followed by James Cameron's magnificent Avatar, which we both loved. I'm glad we saw it together, and I'm glad that was the movie we got together to see.

Happy Anniversary, baby. I've got you on my mind.

I've heard that Avatar is a simply awe-inspiring bit of sci-fi -- living example of the trope that a completely derivative plot told with FEELING outmatches an original plot told poorly every time.

And man, I'm glad to hear you two are still going out together. Maybe you'll be able to rekindle the bond by the separation. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

The bond between us is still very much intact. We just need to clear out some of the debris and detritus that's accumulated over the years, not the least of which is my nigh-complete lack of personal progress in my long-stated life goals.

It was never a question of love. It has always been a question of equality. I can't continue to carry the complete financial burden. I'm just not that physically (or financially) strong any longer. And it's more a lack of impetus, rather than overcoming debris.

Avatar was extraordinary in every way - visually stunning, with a well used and implemented story arc.
