Yet Another Power Failure Knocks Out The Large Hadron Collider!

This makes me a little nervous; I'd joked earlier that the last few LHC glitches coincided with the escalating assaults on my late, lamented Grape.

I have a NEW car now, dagnabbit!

Well at least this time it wasn't a baguette dropping bird. ^^() Shame that it got knocked out again though. That's going to set them back months of particle speed-up time.

From what I understand, the cryo system remained functional, so they're not going to have to re-cool.

Well that's good at least. Hopefully they didn't lose much in the way of particle momentum.

It's not particle momentum; that can be pushed up at any time, as long as the power and focus remain reliable. But if there's no power supply, then the beams shut down, the detectors don't operate, and computer storage and analysis become impossible.

Also, apparently the LHC's website goes down when the facility loses power.

Yeah, I read that their website went down. I had also read that they were intending on slowly increasing the power over the months, until they got the speeds they wanted to hopefully start learning new things.

*sheepish hand raise*

It may be my husband's Nobilis' game's fault.

See, we have the Power of Numbers building his own particle accelerator in our Chancel and he's ticked off the Power of Patterns (who is nuttier than Deadpool on an insane day) but has made nice with the Power of Physics. We are also hosting the Power of Metal and Data who is currently in the form of a metal (flail) snail who is very hyper and has been begging for a ride in the accelerator once it is finished as he thought my visual idea of a tiny metal snail going flying past a window going "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...." was cute/funny. It is thought that until Numbers' accelerator is up and running, Ftisk the snail may be joyriding elsewhere. And may be sabotaging the LHC to make Numbers' one cooler.

The bread may have been from a sandwich.

Beth, not on any drugs that are not prescribed, honest...

...the most incomprehensible part of all this is that someone is actually playing Nobilis!

Ducking now...

Four and a half years, three different Powers of Urbanization and still going!

While my Buffy game has gone over the 6 year mark. :)

I think this is the universe's way of saying, "ok, too much meddling in things man was not meant to know. I'll be nice; here's a warning. Shut down the oversized LiteBright and step back from the keyboard."

"Yeah but we like, wanna smash some electrons inna -"

"Leave it be,skippy. Just leave, it, be." :)

Actually, after every failure, we've made more progress than anticipated. Seems to me it's more like getting all the bad stuff out of the way so we can get to something awesome and not screw up when it happens.

I figure the LHC's problems will take a little over two more years to iron themselves out.

Right about the time the archaeologists stumble across the real secret of Xibalba.
