The tow truck just took my little purple car away.

I loved that little car. It was the first vehicle I ever owned that wasn't a piece of rusty crap from day one.

I had that car longer than any dog I ever owned, and we'd been through a lot more together, so please pardon me if I mourn an "inanimate" object as if she were alive. I knew her moods, I knew her limits. I could and did out-drive Porsches in that little four-banger, because I knew exactly what she could do.

Goodbye, Grape. I loved you.

Were you able to get some insurance from the guy that totaled your car?

Yep. Don't know how much car it's going to get me in return, though; I may wind up back in "piece of rusty crap" land.

(Love her though I did, The Grape was inching toward that benighted terrain herself, as the odometer crept its way toward the 90,000 mile mark and all the regularly-scheduled maintenance that would accompany it. We were lookin' at a cool grand over the next year, easily -- and that's NOT counting the front end damage from a few weeks ago.)

Because of other circumstances, the settlement's gonna have to pay for the whole car -- I can't manage ANY kind of payments at this point, and that's how it's going to be until the Magic Job Fairy flies down and turns me into a Real Grown-Up.

The real pisser, of course, is the aforementioned front end damage, and the brand new tires. Another $1500 would go a LONG way at this stage.

So, yes. All thouse practical factors are ALSO contributing to the Loss Of A Beloved Not-Quite-Pet.

Good thoughts to you. I do understand this kind of loss.

Do you have any pics of the car? I'd like to see what it looked like (pre damage, of course)

*hugs* I'm glad I got to ride in it, even if just once.

Mourn. Machines are alive, I'm sure of it. They always respond well when they're loved; they can be spiteful if not, and they can play practical jokes. Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong if you dare, but remember-- your computer is listening.

I still mourn my first good car. As I recall, it might have been a Flintmobile...

And now, the key to my metaphysical model:
