That's a rather expensive way to pull a joke that only 10% of the audience will get. Most of the people freezing their buns off had little idea what he had to do with Foster's, I'll bet.

Quel and I got it, but I think only I was amused. Nobody else in our house did; my stepdaughter wasn't familiar with EITHER the meme OR the cartoon.

(In context, it's not all THAT pricey -- at least a couple of others in the parade had singers of some repute -- including JAMES TAYLOR. So it wasn't any more expensive than a regular float-with-name-singer.)
