May 1 is also
International Worker's Day.

You have nothing to lose but your chains.

Thanks for the reminder. I think I avoid mentioning things like that for fear of being thought a political extremist. But I've been a political extremist in this country since 2002, even though my politics barely changed.

There's plenty to lose. What about economic stability, a reliable income?

Meanwhile - in Minnesota - Jim Lileks' neocon sense is tingling!

"Somewhere someone is thinking thoughts that threaten my notions of the world! *choke*!"

It is so sad to see him go from clever, witty humorist to a guy who, while he lacks for nothing, while he has everything he could want and lives in a country that basically works just the way he wants -

Nevertheless feels threatened at every suggestion that somehow, people may have different opinions than him.

I was so surprised, reading his blog last night, that his mention of the Powerpuff Girls didn't turn into a rant about how cartoons are trying to make his daughter liberal, or something... :p

I had to stop reading his blog back in 2002 or so, unfortunately.

At one time he had a 'screedblog' for his rants, while the Bleat was dedicated to his nostalgia and humor writings. That makes sense to me - give the reader a break and a choice - but now its just an unending stream of ego and disgruntlement, and how My Little Pony will turn his daughter into an ecoterrorist commie because those damn pastel horses don't have jobs, or some damn thing. :p
