The Fire of my Heart is back. Surgery went well; on the drive home, she was astounded at the IMMEDIATE improvement in her vision, both from the absence of cataract cloudiness and the reduction or elimination of near-sightedness from that eye.
She's currently snoozing peacefully, sleeping off the last of the sedative from the operation.
No word on my sister, yet; Mom's new cell phone is apparently either out of juice or out of service area.
It seems that "setting up voice mail" is to the dawn of the One-And-Twenty what "setting the clock on the VCR" was to the '80s and '90s.

Date: 2007-11-19 10:24 pm (UTC)(a) something people realize they probably should get around to at some point,
(b) something that's fairly straightforward, and
(c) something people are nonetheless afraid to attempt, because the technology scares them.
Of course, if it's also (d) something that people speak unashamedly of being unable to figure out, then it's also the modern counterpart to "setting the VCR to record something later".
