Marcel Marceau died yesterday, at the age of 84.

I have a great deal of respect for the man. He worked with the French Underground in WWII, and was a master of his craft, evoking deeply-felt emotions and entire landscapes with nothing more than expression and gesture. He inspired millions, including countless imitators... but let's forgive him that.

He was first and foremost an entertainer, however, and delighted in making people laugh... so let's have a few in his honor.

After all, a mime is a terrible thing to waste.

It was several hours before they realized that he was dead. They assumed he was rehearsing.

Funeral arrangments have been announced. He'll be buried in an invisible coffin. The music will include Bob Segar's "Against the Wind".

I'm so very, very sorry...

Whinnyhi, Athe.

I miss him too. Everybody likes to joke about mimes but he was the icon who made it happen. Charlie Chaplin was his.

Saw him in person many moons ago and not the usual window-washing goof, he was awesome and the master of his craft.

Just surprised to find he was still around. I didn't know about the ethnicity/Resistance thing either.

Hmm... he hadn't been talked about much since the 80's though, really. Mummenschanz, Bread and Puppet Theater, Cirque de Soleil and the Blue Man Group have been all the rage since those old times.

My mate finally figured out for me how to post to your LJ.
The emails to panelists were sent out 9/8/07.
I will be listing three panelists on the events form this afternoon:
Morning Dragon aka Silvenist Dragon, Robert Hole, and you. However, I'm not sure whether Athelind is yet another aka for Morning Dragon. Could you help me out here???
Also, please let me know which email address I can mail to you that won't get spammed, and which aka you want listed for the Dragons & Scalies panel.
thanks,
Jodi
