Rozz Tox Revisited

normanrafferty likes to refer to the Rozz Tox Manifesto, a counterculture rant whose thesis is that "The underground becomes the establishment."

Yesterday, toy_dragon rephrased that thesis:

"In an expanding universe, being on the fringe today means you're suburban tomorrow."

Um.. and this mysterious process would be called CHANGE, right? Because if there's any way for real change other than somebody getting a crazy yet good new idea that eventually goes mainstream, I don't know what it might be.

Admittedly, yes, people's opinions are expanding, but that doesn't always mean what's fringe today is accepted and suburban tomorrow. Look at homosexuality. That's been 'in the closet' for decades, and while we're familiar with it now, people still blithely hate and fear it for no reason.
