Many of the same people who demonize Starbuck's for competing with local coffee shops react to the recent invasion of the Left Coast by Krispy Kreme donuts as if it were the Second Coming.

   I'm probably in the Second Coming crowd... But then I like KK's doughnuts. As for the local shops... Well, they suck. If they want my business they can stop sucking. };>

See, there's a difference. Starbucks are EVERYWHERE. Krispy Kremes aren't quite there yet. And Krispy Kremes are yummy...at least the standard glazed is. I still want to see someone make the cross-over with In 'n Out...running next door to get a classic glazed donut from Krispy Kreme, and handing it to the In 'n Out guy, telling him to use it as the bun for his triple-triple animal style. :)

I in the central U.S., where Krispy Kreme has been around for a few years now. I've not been swung over to their side for a few reasons.

During my first year at college, I had donuts from the school for breakfast more than a few times, and for some reason, I almost can't stand any donuts anymore.

I've seen Krispy Kreme donuts. Your hands get so covered in liquidy glaze that you wonder if it'll ever come off. That, in my opinion, is too much.

Dunkin' Donuts is still the original donut store in my opinion, so long live them!

And I support my local bakery by eating their donuts. ^_^
