It's past midnight.

Thanks to an overly-large dinner that triggered an impromptu nap in the Life-Sucking ChairTM, I'm not sleepy.

I'm just bored.

I'm in the same boat except it's almost 4:30 and I didn't have the overly-large dinner....

Why does insomnia only hit when it's a worknight?

What I want to know, is why it is so easy to fall asleep just about any time during the day, especially after lunch or right after dinner, while getting to sleep in the evening is so hard, when, daytime sleeping inevitably just makes you feel like crap, even if you do "adjust" to it?

I mean, I know human ancestors got their food from a verity of sources, but they DID hunt, and when the air is filled with the scent of blood to predators/bigger scavengers, you think would be the last place they'd want to have impaired alertness. While times when it is too dark to hunt or gather, they would want to get to sleep quickly and get as much rest as possible.
