By the way, are you guys all aware that if you call me with Caller ID blocked, I'm going to assume you're a pollster or someone else who thinks the Do Not Call List doesn't apply to them, and let it ring?

My father is evil, and calls my phone with caller ID blocked while he's sitting right next to me. D:

If I don't recognize the number, I assume it's for someone else in the house.

The only time I ever block my number is when I'm calling a student from home instead of school. It's often necessary to do so - not a lot of working parents are home when i leave school between three-thirty and four (having arrived at seven or so, with a box of marking under my arm.) But the reason my number is unlisted is so that students can't crank-call me; it seems counter-productive to then give them my number when I call their parents about their failed math test.

I just use an additional screening: my voice mail. If it is a pollster, they will hang up and won't leave VM. If it is a friend (or my mother, who uses a phone card that never leaves a Caller ID number) they will leave me VM, and I call them back immediately.

Needless to say, unidentified VMs -- which are very rare -- get trashed immediately.
