I've found, of late, that part of my brain keeps wanting to take Useful Functions from one interface and apply them to another.

If I'm reading a web site or a LiveJournal entry with a spelling error, I'll look for the Edit tab, as if it were a Wiki. I keep hitting "Ctrl-S" to try to save changes when I'm editing an object in Second Life (which does, near as I can tell, bupkis).

Second Life, conversely, has left me alt-clicking on images and video to try to change the camera angle.

Not just on the Web, either. Every so often, I try to do it with my TV remote.

On a not-quite-related note, today's Irregular Webcomic made me think of you. :)

When I try to do regular sketching with paper and pencil, sometimes I find my other hand instinctively tapping an imaginary ctrl-z on an equally imaginary keyboard, instead of going for the eraser when I make a mistake.

Embarassing, really.

Heh. I've found myself doing that as well.

In a few areas other than that. Sometimes when I boff something up in RL, I want to know where the 'undo' key is. I've found myself trying to 'ctrl+z' videogames as well. Console videogames.

There's actually a new term for that sort of thing, I don't remember exactly what they call it, but it's similar to glottlestopping... which is halting in mid-word, mid-sentence, before suddenly continuing with the word and sentence again.

Very oddly (or perhaps not), they attribute this to mini-seizures in the brain, due to too much synaptic activity for too long a time. It's recommended you take a break (a couple of days or more) from the activities you're having troubles with this sort of thing over.

With me it's either trying to hit cmd+s when I'm in pico, or trying to hit ctrl+o or ctrl+k in TextEdit.

I am glad, however, that my LJ is not a wiki. It's confusing enough as it is without multiple editors. c.c

I understand your "pain". Especially when I'm swapping in between Photoshop at work and The GIMP at home. The brain can't keep it all straight!
