Python Bursts After Trying To Eat Gator.

Even so, you've gotta respect the attempt.

Actually, I want to find the asshats who released the pythons into the 'glades and feed _them_ to the gators. Pythons are definitely breeding in the 'glades now.

And on the west coast we've got about 1000 nile monitor lizards roaming around near Sanibel Island, a wildlife refuge, home to several threatened bird species. No, that's not a typo - 1000.

It's a helluva impressive photo though. They're not sure if the size burst the python or if the gator tore through with it's hind legs - apparently those legs keep moving even when the critter's dead, they've got a bit of a primitive system apparently....

So do I. Invasive species are a serious problem everywhere, but in a stressed-but-vital ecosystem like the Everglades, that much moreso.

Yes. I saw that on the news. You're just jealous he didn't stay together so you could see the bulging scales. XD

AHh yes, Azzy posted that on Dragonspot :P

Yeah, snake bit off a bit more than he could... digest I guess. There was a big discussion on how could the croc have been alive when Pythons crush their prey. My guess is that the snake put the guy into a torpor from low air instead of killing him. Ate him, then he woke up, was most displeased about being in a snake's stomach and kicked his way through where his back end was, and promptly suffocated while trying to extract his head and torso :P

So yeah, that was kinda a draw there in the article :P
