In my last entry, I mentioned the TV Tropes Wiki and noted that I hadn't yet had the time to peruse it.

I stayed up far too late last night remedying that error. The site is splendidly comprehensive.

It also offers The Story Generator, which randomly mixes and matches Classic Elements at random "to spark ideas".

This is a great Game Host Tool. "Oh no! Everyone's coming over to play Noun: The Verbing and I don't have an adventure planned! Gah, gotta think of something..."

Setting: A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away
Plot: Master Plots.
Mandatory Narrative Device: Second Hand Storytelling
Hero: Action Girl
Villain: Corrupt Hick
Mandatory Character As Device: Teen Genius
Mandatory Trope 1: Million To One Chance
Mandatory Trope 2: Naming Conventions
Optional Stock Phrase: You Did Everything You Could

"Hmmm, that's not quite right."

Setting: Christie Time
Plot: Amnesia Danger
Mandatory Narrative Device: Exact Eaves Dropping
Hero: Anti Hero
Villain: Nietzsche Wannabe
Mandatory Character As Device: Hot Scientist
Mandatory Trope 1: Poorly Disguised Pilot
Mandatory Trope 2: The Couch

"Okay, we might be able to do something with that."

Odds are pretty good that you'll get a more interesting game session out of it than if you crack open the latest "re-imagined" First-Edition Adventure Module....

Hmm. I like it. I'm gonna keep this for when I start my Spycraft/Shadowforce Archer campaigns back up. :P

I've got the mother of all cliff-hangers to work out, first, but once that's resolved, I'm sure something can be worked out. Or I could just start a second group, but damn, coming up with stuff for one is hard enough. @_@ Though, some of my group are far more into the fantasy genre, so I'm not sure if they're going to be sticking around. I may also be breaking it up into smaller groups, since spy work tends to be individual-based, unless you're talking covert ops, which tosses out a lot of the spy stuff and replaces it with guns.

Man, I need to clone myself, then I can run three seperate scenarios, all linked together, all in different rooms, and then resolve them all at the same time, in the same room, when it all comes together. :P

The first one works.

Say you have some sort of petty Tatooine slum-lord who's basically cornering the market on water through leasing vaporators. There are two ways you could bring him down - both million to one shots. You could convince the Imperial governor to do it - or you could get the sandpeople real riled up and lead them directly into the slumlord's way. Neither one is particularly likely to happen, but with an action girl and a tech genius, surely you can figure something out.

Sigh.

That was such a good show, before Sorbo ruined it by firing the original writers and the one person on the ship who was prettier than he was.
