Epitaph
King Crimson

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams.

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying.

And Hotspur, Onissarle and I have been not sixty miles from that. Always on the one weekend a year that they allow people to go to the Trinity site, through chance ... and never on the right day of that weekend to go see it.

I used to live in a town that got hit with fallout all the time back in the day...

That explains a lot.

... and apparently the AEC once or twice intentionally blew up a NERVA class test rocket over California about the time I was born there, so... join the club. :)

Nice as always to find someone who also knows how to use Atomic Era dating.

Although since Christian Era dating lacks a Year Zero I'm always screwing myself up when I convert between the two.

(And if you know what novella I'm paraphrasing that from and what far more famous novel it got turned into, I'll give you a cookie). :)

From Frankie Goes To Hollywood:

The battle cry “Don’t mess with me -
I’ve trod on this world for eternity!”

Warriors of the wasteland -
Simple device on desert sands;
Warriors of the wasteland.

(Spoken, Mordantly)
"We're Rats, In a Cage -
Suicide, a go-go."

Wouldn't you know, only a couple of hours after I read this post via a Friends list, Radio Paradise (http://www.radioparadise.com) played this song. I'd never heard it before.

If it starts happening a lot - songs that have particular meaning, particularly by synchronicity or apt timing - pay attention. Somebody's Who's 'Everything You Want' and Everything You Need is trying to tell you something at exactly the right time. ;)
(And yes, those are lyrics, too, from Vertical Horizon.)
