I can see 11-year olds doing this. But a 17, and a 20-year old?! Yep. Definitely better off without 'em.

Y'know, it used to annoy me that they left The Human Torch off of the Saturday morning Fantastic Four cartoon because the network was afraid of kids setting themselves on fire.

Apparently, they were being generous. -.-

As ol' Matchstick himself said in a Hembeck spoof, "Boy, a lotta faith these guys have in American youth, huh?"

Not so much "generous" as "prescient", I think.

Oh, and I love the icon.

Actually, that's an urban legend. They left him off because, at the time, Universal had the rights to the HUMAN TORCH for a live action feature, leaving the character unavailable.

The feature, of course, then languished in Development Hell.

Does anyone else find it amusing that the FF movie is going to debut in the same summer as the first "Herbie" movie to hit the big screen in 25 years? Maybe that's why they can't use the robot...

There's also some new Herbie movie coming out as well this summer, so maybe that's a tie-in.

Gasoline. And flourescent light tubes. And flame. *shakehead* As anyone who has ever changed a flourescent tube light knows, those things break if you breathe on them wrong.

A tube of plexiglass filled with glow-stick fluid, now...that'd be a different story.

Hmmm.

Just be awfully careful cutting open those glowsticks. Every single time I've tried, I've gotten the stuff either in, or very near my eyes. WEAR GOGGLES!
It doesn't burn as bad as kool-aid powder in the eyes does, but it's close!

IIRC the originals in '77 had long blades covered with reflective material revolved by motors in the handle... which couldn't be clashed. (I worked for EMI in those days, not in the film studios of course but the old EMI News had a lot of stuff in it...they were justifiably proud of what was being done at Elstree then)
