For those who collect toys, stuffed animals, objects d'art, and so forth:

Of all the items in your collection, which do you wish was real -- a genuine, fully-functional example of what it represents?

(I'm saving my answer for later -- I want to see how other people respond.)

Edit, 16:47: If you're a costumer, and you want to vote "my fursuit of my favorite alter-ego", that counts.

Edit, 16:50: You know, I was expecting a few more answers along the lines of "my model starship"....

Edit, 19:27: I'd have to say my Green Lantern ring (a free promo piece from the release of Green Lantern: Mosaic, back in 1990, given to me by my brother, [livejournal.com profile] kolchis).

Hrmmmm....

Not an easy question you pose! If I had a picture of myself as I would truly love to be physically I would choose that, but I don't so that won't work.

In that case I think I will choose the characters depicted in a commission I had done; they are characters from my novel/story/thing-that-may-become-a-comic.

Y'know, I just read The Indian in the Cupboard a few months ago...

I collected the DC Super-Powers action figures...okay, fine, "dolls"...for awhile. I think the world could use a walking, talking, flying Kal-El.

Amusingly enough, that was going to be my first answer! Except for the fact that I don't have a model starship, I then realized. :)

Well, to me, it's obvious. That life sized Wile E Coyote statue. I wouldn't mind that one coming to life ^.^

My first thought is my phaser. Although, in accordance with your edit, the U.S.S. Enterprise or Millenium Falcon would be good too. :)

Leaving aside any number of furry art characters, I'll say my 1935 Auburn eight cylinder, which I possess in 1:18 scale only. :)

My stupid non-functioning cell phone.

Seriously though, I have no idea. I have a LOT of awesome Sci-fi crap in the vein of warhammer 40k.

My plush The Cheat, of course! Then I could plot catastrophe, with schemes so masterly, with plans so dastardly, and take tea at half past three!

My little Fig might be nice but.... I'd go for my Dave Hopkins' drawing of Farrago...although a 12" furry angel might take some explaining away.....

So, if I vote for a drawing of my furry character, does that mean I'd become furry or I'd bring into existence a doppelganger? If it's me, then that's my choice. :)

Just to be arbitrary, I'm gonna say that drawings or sculptures of your alter-ego would yield a doppleganger -- but a fursuit gets to be Really You.

Single items often limit you to a fantasy someone else came up with. I mean, yeah, there are TV shows, movies, and books I have enjoyed, but if I was limited to a single item, I don't know if I'd want to subscribe to someome elses idea of fun.

Like you, I'd go for a device that let me control my environment and have fun. Heck, maybe that D&D book of spells, or some other reality warping device.

A starship? Who needs it. It's all going to come to using amazing powers for practical jokes afterall.

Hmmmm.

I like Onissarle's idea - making a representation of Penny Crayon's magical marker into the fully-functional example.

Then we get a virtually endless supply of anything we can draw.
