According to Kaja Foglio's Diary, Airship Books is suspending publication of the classic Gaslamp Fantasy, Girl Genius.

This is one of my favorite comic books of all time.

So why am I grinning like an idiot?

Because the story will continue on the web, as Girl Genius Online.

The idea is that the dead-tree quarterly book is really just a way of drumming up interest in the trade paperback collections (a point I've made repeatedly about mainstream superhero monthlies) -- and that a web comic can do that much more effectively.

For me, the idea of getting my Agatha Heterodyne fix three times a week instead of once every few months just makes me giddy.

New comics start on 18 April 2005. You can read the whole of Issue One here.

So what are you waiting for?

Someone hasn't been reading Websnark.com recently. ;)

I'm excited, too. I first saw Girl Genius a few years ago at the San Diego Comic-Con, and picked up an issue there.

Sure I have. Where do you think I got the information?

Um.... I don't know. See, I had no idea that was happening until I read Websnark. How does anyone find out anything, except through the accepted channels?

Your post just sounded like you had found that independently, is all. Sorry.

Hee.

I just like to go back to the original source material for my news posts, rather than risking data entropy.
