...but isn't the Red Sox winning the World Series supposed to be one of the Signs of the Apocalypse?

I mean, with all the other shit going on in the world, this is NOT reassuring.

Bizzaro! Bizzaro! Bizzaro!

Your music and the place where it is truncated is also telling.

But, on a brighter note, Massachussetts won by a landslide that surpassed all expectations.

May we see the same thing happen Nov. 2.

And there was a lunar eclipse too, and it turned red! *angst angst* :)

For me, it's a good thing, but that's because I live in St. Louis and wouldn't be able to stand seeing all the hype over the Cardinals winning.

Hrmm... actually, I think it's the Cubs winning the World Series which is an apocolyptic sign... false alarm.

Sad as it is coming from me, I have to agree.

I'm a born Cubs fan. Growing up 3 blocks from Wrigley Field will do that to a girl.

True, but the Sox were ahead of the Cubs in line, so they had to get their win first. Now the Cubs can proceed, and then the World can end...

The last WS the Red Sox won was in 1918... the last Cubs victory was in 1909.

Who was first in line?

Why is it called the World Series when hardly anyone but the US plays in it?

Because the "world" refers to the "world" of major league baseball, not the world in general. There was talk of including Japanese teams in the world series at one point but it would have made the playoffs extremely complicated (and 14 hour flights between games, ick)

Besides, Canadian teams can play in the world series too.

eek, another sign
