When I'm 64
by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine,
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three,
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older, too.
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.

I could be handy mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, Sunday mornings, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
(if it's not too dear)
We shall scrimp and save.
Grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line, stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say,
Yours sincerely, wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?

It is sad, isn't it?

Slightly off topic:
Whenever I hear RIAA or BPI folks go on about falling record sales I recall the premium prices placed on Beatles CDs....straight transfers with out any extra frills or additions of albums that were recorded over 33 years ago and must have amortised their manufacturing costs years ago.

One thing is sure, while Yoko is about, Chapman's continued requests for parole will get the answer "ono, ono, oh? NO!"

Technically Paul wrote that song, even if they did follow the old rule of sticking both their names on it.

But the occasion makes me very sad nonetheless.

When I was younger I really didn't care for the Beatles. I just didn't get it. Then about 3 or 4 years ago, I took a listen to them again. Wow. I didn't realize the wonderful layers and sonic textures that were integrated into their music.

That's about the time it hit me. I'd never get a chance to see them assembled. John was taken from us way too early. To me, it's one of those little things that I look at and feel sad inside about.

A minute is sixty seconds, and sixty seconds is a long time, as we shall demonstrate.
