So...

Once again, the Miserable Failure has gotten a sudden, undeserved boost to his credibility just when his poll numbers had started dropping.

Just in time for election year, too.

What convenient timing.

The more conspiracy-minded among us might wonder just how long we've been keeping him in that hole, waiting for just the key psychological moment to announce his capture.

I'm not quite that paranoid, though, especially since Hussein was found in his old home town, in the heart of his personal, family, and clan loyalties. I'm fulling willing to credit the role of Dumb Luck in the Global Village Idiot's career.

I'm not the only one Coyote loves, I know -- but oh, dear Dog of Gods and God of Dogs, I really must wonder about your tastes sometimes.

Perhaps your apparent affection for the Unelected Fraud is just part of a great joke on all the rest of us.

Good one.

No, if this really was a proaganda move, they would have done it either a couple months ago, when things first started to flag, or they would have waited until just before the Democratic national convention. There are too many REAL conspiracies to worry about fake ones. They don't have that much control over this stuff.

Golly...would this be the same Saddam that they said surely died in a bombing a few months ago? It's like those "Jason" movies.

Obviously, you don't read enough comic books: if you can't find the body, then they ain't dead.

You know, it’s sort of like those celebrity murder cases. Everyone’s attention is on this one person’s capture/trial, while hundreds of others keep happening. The Bush administration has seemed to make use of this phenomenon. Sure, Sadam is a “Bad Guy” but like that celebrity trial, a vastly disproportional amount of money and recourses is spent one person (or contry), while dozens of low profile cases aren’t even given a sound bite.

What zie said. If I were a Bushco team member, and I had actual control over a trump card of this magnitude, I'd have goaded the most outspoken Demo opponents into really sticking their foot in their mouth first, and maybe, just for the hell of it, captured him mid-day Dec. 23 as a Christmas present. Or waited until the run-up to the primaries, to use as an attack ad and knock out Dean in favor of a waffling centrist with little fund-raising cachet.
