Has anyone out there in LJ Land read Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination?

*proudly bears Colonel Philistine Rank!* Actually.. no, I've never read it. :) And yes, I know how much of a foundation this novel was. Double yes on "I want to read it some day"!

I did - the novel and the adaptation Marvel did years ago. Good stuff and I MUST read 'The Demolished Man' one day....

I should also proudly say, with great geekness, that I was the one guy in my Traveller posse years ago who recognized Gully Foyle in that one supplement GDW published, where they listed stats, no names and generalized descriptions of various famous SF heroes. :)

Indeed I have. I truly adored that book. I'm looking for my copy.. and asked Dad to go through /HIS/ umpteen-thousands of books looking for my copy or his. ;)

If you liked that, I'd also suggest 'Tuf Voyaging' by.. I think it was George RR. Martin? I really think you'd like that one, too.

And here I've never even heard of Alfred Bester. The biggest event in my recent sci-fi literature past was getting one of the new Dune prequels signed by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson.

I'll have to add The Stars my Destination to my growing reading list, between reading papers, anyway. *small grin*
