Here's the full damage tally, as far as we can reconstruct it:

  1. Lexus comes tearing down our residential street at high speed, around half past midnight.
  2. Lexus impacts 1977 full-sized van, two doors down.
  3. Van is hit with sufficient force to hit the next-door neighbor's Toyota, in her driveway, and then rebounds off to TURN COMPLETELY AROUND and wind up on the sidewalk between next-door neighbor's house and OUR house.
  4. Lexus continues on its course, directly into my little purple car.

On the phone, my insurance company wanted as much detail about all of the accident as I could give them.

"What parts of the van were damaged?"
"ALL OF THEM."

Since this is obviously 'the other guys fault', don't let the insurance company lowball you on the replacement value of your car. Get informed as to the actual value. Question their first offer, if it sounds low.

So... it's the recently repaired Grape that suffered?
Damn.

Pardon my language but, holy. Fuck.

So where is captain lexus? The answer is, I hope, in jail. I take it his car is totaled?

Sorry this happened. Hopefully he was actually insured, so you can buy another running vehicle. Maybe you can buy his Lexus-Tank for cheap, since you can be assured he won't be driving again for a good, long time. @_@

If a Lexus takes two or more other vehicles down with it, the Lexus percentage goes up.

That...is horrid news. As people have said, try to make sure the offer they give you for your car (probably since it's completely totalled) is nothing below market value for what the Grape would be. And maybe even add in that you just had it back in from repairs yourself, and that it's your only mode of transportation, etc, etc.

You wouldn't think a little Lexus would have enough mass to do all that, even at the speeds he must have been going.

I hope you manage to get things worked out with the insurance companies without too much trouble.

Sounds like what happened to my Dodge Dynasty a year ago. To nail my car, they had to miss by less than two feet the phone pole behind it.

At least you know who wrecked yours. Hopefully they have insurance, or at least sufficient value to cover all the damage.

And I'm inclined to agree with the viewpoint that the driver was drunk as a skunk.

Who is your insurance company, and do you have collision and/or uninsured motorist?

His car is OBLITERATED. It looks like a bullet after impact.

At this point, the "Lexus-Tank" is more like "Lexus-Scrap". As I said above, picture a bullet after impact.
