...seriously, who writes these things? This is the Internet -- don't most people have a plethora of names?

Or does my sample group have a peculiar bias?

Here's a variation: do you consider your LJ handle or other online noms de guerre to be "names", or just "handles"?

"Athelind" is most definitely another "name" for me. I'm well-known online as "Athelind" or "Your Obedient Serpent" -- better known by far than I am by my legal name. A number of my friends and acquaintances call me "Athe" even in face-to-face conversations.

Hell, some people I know on Second Life call me "Athelind" even when I'm logged in under yet another name.

I definitely consider "Rikoshi" a valid enough name for me, to the point where I very often feel weird when my friends call me by my "real" name.

Yeah, I'd definitely consider Stalbon to be another name for me. A few of my online friends who have my number will sometimes actually call asking for that particular name.

I don't really think of myself as "Tube" or "Rane." People call me Tube all the time and I don't notice it, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm Ryan.

Interestingly, I'm much more comfortable being called 'Noah' then 'Andreal' or 'Andy.' 'Leopard' and 'Spots' as terms of endearment work well for me, though!

Well, I've been consistent with having 'Beth' somewhere in my user name for most things (this LJ handle excluded). Various permeu...permu...variations on Beth have attached themselves to me over the years. And I also go by my main in Warcraft's name among my guild, although in some of the private chats there is a weird mix of Warcraft name/real name/forum name that can make it hard to tell who is speaking to whom of whom.

We even get mail addressed to "Athelind & Quelonzia Stormdancer".

On more than one occasion friends have completely forgotten that my given name is not Tephra. Lynn gets used mostly by family, friends I first met in offline and completely non-fannish situations, and those annoying business related type people.
