We've been catching the anti-Prop 8 ads lately, so I'm slightly mollified. It's possible we'd been fast-forwarding through them (since we watch pretty much everything time-shifted via DVR): they're kind of innocuous, since the only one we've seen is two woman sitting at a table having a Serious Conversation.

I seriously hope this thing doesn't pass. It's an AMENDMENT to the state constitution, so I think it needs more than a simple majority.

Shit, I was wrong. Amendment-By-Initiative only needs a simple majority.

It would need (I forget) either 3/4ths or 2/3rds to pass via the legislature, but they can circumvent that by submitting it as a ballot initiative, by which it needs only a simple majority.

I hear the occasional Pro-8 ad on my MIL's radio and during the news, but there is an older couple discussing their children in an anti-8 ad that airs at least four times on KTLA (WB - channel 5 in Los Angeles) from 7pm-8pm.

The abandoned Rite Aid building over by Pizza Naughm has turned into one of those political sign breeding grounds. Out of all the dozens of signs there, exactly ONE looked to have been intentionally knocked to the ground. It was the "Yes on Prop 8" sign.

(And no, it wasn't me. Had the sign been standing as I passed by, that might be different.)
