Date: 2008-08-10 04:57 pm (UTC)Apparently the explosion was heard right across the city, more than 40 km away. If I'd been awake and outside at that time, it's quite possible I could have heard it from here.
EDIT: The biggest problem for most residents is probably the closing of the 401 highway, and the subway/bus routes through there. On a weekday, that would effectively close down the city - the 401 is one of two main routes across town. If it's not open by tomorrow morning, I would expect a lot of people won't be going to work.
