Massive Propane Explosion And Fire In Toronto

We're a long way from that, but I might as well check in anyway. We're fine.

Apparently the explosion was heard right across the city, more than 40 km away. If I'd been awake and outside at that time, it's quite possible I could have heard it from here.

EDIT: The biggest problem for most residents is probably the closing of the 401 highway, and the subway/bus routes through there. On a weekday, that would effectively close down the city - the 401 is one of two main routes across town. If it's not open by tomorrow morning, I would expect a lot of people won't be going to work.

No worries. I'm back up north for the summer.
Frightening part is, it's less then 10 blocks from the college where I'd be staying. So I'm sure if I'd have been down there I would have heard it crystal clear.

'twas one hell of a bang apparently. They evacuated about 12000 people from the area, and the explosion damaged quite a lot of buildings and houses in the area. One fire-fighter was killed during the blaze, and a lot of people were injured by flying glass and debris.

They have given the all clear for now however, and people are making their way back home. No word what the hell happened yet. :p
