Rights, Lefts, and so on.

One of the anomalies in my mostly-liberal political alignment is my stand on the Second Amendment. I think that the Right to Bear Arms is as important to maintaining our freedoms as any of the others enumerated in the Bill of Rights. This article captures some of that position eloquently.

I support the right to bear arms in general (after all, there are a few floating around the house here somewhere, and when I get out on my own I do plan on purchasing one or two of my own for Just In Case) but the gun nuts still make me sick. An odd dichotomy, I guess, but... Eh. I'm complex that way. Maybe it's that it's a tool that is worth having around, but since its primary function is violence I have a really, REALLY hard time understanding the glorification of it. I guess some might find my fascination with trains as hard to grasp... But at least trains aren't generally designed to kill things.
