A few months back, I got in an argument about the demise of "real wargaming", which I finally had to describe specifically as rigorous historical simulation games.

My friend kept alternating between bringing up stuff like Axis & Allies, and pointing out that the gaming cons he went to were full of people playing games that had been out of print for a quarter-century.

They not only obliterated the hobby, they salted the ground.
