Drive canceled after three weeks on the air.
Quel and I hadn't even had a chance to watch anything but the two-episode pilot -- the other two eps are sitting on our DVR.
We were quite enjoying it; she's just been working late.
Does Fox show anything besides sucky "reality" shows and The Simpsons?

Date: 2007-04-30 02:02 pm (UTC)I was reading an interview with Bryan Fuller, who had created Wonderfalls for Fox, and he said that the network always knew what to do with low-grade reality stuff and testosterone-driven action shows, like Prison Break. The more they move out of that box, the more they mishandle things. I'm not sure why Drive 'failed' for them; the ratings for The War at Home have always been about that low. Maybe they really don't like Tim Minear and Nathan Fillion, and are trying to say it subtly?
I'm just hoping they cough up the rest of the episodes online. :)

Date: 2007-04-30 07:37 pm (UTC)Our Fox affiliate isn't even showing it. It's supposed to be on Sundays innit? All they aired was the pilot movie (and our DVR botched the recording).
Personally I wasn't interested in the premise (a bunch of people blackmailed to act like reality tv contestants, except with killing), but
qtrhorserider said, "It's got Nathan Fillion!"

I don't know if that really is the case but, sounds right anyways.
Fox never does well with anything that isn't Vox Populi crowdpleaser, a fact that I think contributes to the huge inferiority complex I feel 'round the lot. But again, that just may be a cross section of one 'taur's opinion.
Although really, and to the point, I won't miss Drive. It felt VERY post-Lost. In the first ep, when the Little Nebbish is doing that thing like the Others do were you don't answer directly any question, and it's supposed to be 'mysterious' and instead comes off like he's hard of hearing...
Well, I just wish the protagonist there had just beat the answers out of him. It would have at least been DIFFERENT. :P

Date: 2007-04-30 09:22 pm (UTC)Seriously. Fox is VERY messed up. I have heard from numerous sources that Joss Wheedon refuses to ever work with them again, and I would also like point to the cancelled of Futurama during an AWARD WINNING season. Not nomination, but winning. What kind of exec does it take to say, "Hey, we won something! CANCEL IT!"
