Sigh...

Sounds an awful lot like PCSOTC aka Politically Correct Spirit of the Century.

::Rant on::

And what some persons call Pulp in RPG-land sounds an awful lot to me like the dumbed-down funny-book / comic-book translations of the pulps that appeared in the 1940s and 1950s and were aimed at the kiddies. They have little to do with the adventures that would appear in such magazines as Black Mask, Unknown, Weird Tales, The Spider, or even Doc Savage.

Some of the descriptions I read here and elsewhere remind me very much like the dismaying liberties taken with the Doc Savage comic book series circa 1947, the so-called "Blue Hood" period.

This is the infamous period that began in issue #5 when a mystic lama from Tibet doctor's a downed Doc back to health after a crash and gives him a blue cowl or hood with a sacred ruby on its forehead. The mystic gem endows Doc with super-strength and hypnotic powers that allows him to fight crime better than ever as the "The Invincible" as the gem deflects bullets and can hypnotize the unwilling. Utter crap, of course, and it gets even worse after that...

::Rant Off::
