Though Bush won more votes -- 59.2 million -- than any presidential candidate in U.S. history, Kerry's vote total -- 55.7 million -- was still greater than any U.S. presidential candidate in history prior to 2004. That means more Americans cast their vote against Bush than against any other presidential candidate in U.S. history.

Keep that in mind when someone crows about how Bush has a "mandate" because more people voted for him than any other President in history. More people voted AGAINST him than for any other President in history, too.

I am currently indulging in a bottle of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, a very, very potent, very, very dark beer from North Coast Brewing Company.

In light of recent events, I thought that a beverage whose slogan is "Never Say Die" was entirely appropriate.

Besides, if Old Raspy could make the Corman Fantastic Four movie watchable, it can make the news watchable.
