Yet another update.

I applaud the doctor's instincts. It looks like whatever crud I contracted was either worse than I thought, or has indeed progressed to a secondary infection. But I have antibiotics, and I have'em a day or two sooner than if I followed my own (usually pretty decent) instincts, so I should be at least functional tomorrow.

Basically, I feel middlin' decent, other than... okay, not gonna TMI you all.
