athelindWill Eisner passed away on January 3rd, 2005 at the age of 87 following quadruple bypass heart surgery.
Eisner was one of the most influential figures in comics, and the single individual most responsible for the medium's slow progress toward credibility as a respectible art form. He coined the term "graphic novel", and his work continually pushed the boundaries of the medium.
The "Oscar" of the comics world bears his name.
