Unfortunately, those sites are rather unconvincing in their.. shall we say.. "zeal". It's just a couple steps away from tinfoil hats. Voter fraud may have happened, but these articles claim a few too many "facts" without enough "proof" for me to take them seriously.

So lets pretend that there's voter fraud, and that 200,000 Bush votes get thrown out (or whatever it would take).

It's a moot point now, right? Because Kerry basically gave up? Or would the votes still stand?

Florida was 400,000 (approx) to Bush - I don't see how they got that many fraudulent votes (the 3rd site)

Question: if Kerry has already conceded, what difference will it make if significant vote fraud turns up in Ohio? Can he rescind his concession?

Next question: Why the heck are votes moved before being counted? Good grief, no wonder you guys have problems. Votes in Canada don't budge from the box until the poll clerk, with two or more scrutineers looking on, opens the sealed box and counts them, right there on the table at which they were marked. Then the scrutineers call the numbers in to their offices, so generally, the candidates know the score before Elections Canada does. It keeps everyone honest - vote recounts only happen when there are margins of less than a hundred votes, really.

Concede: To accept as true, valid, or accurate.

Kerry's concession of defeat was basically him being a gentleman, and telling Bush that he believes he lost. Nowhere in a concession is an implicit withdrawal, though. So, if for whatever reason the numbers are that wrong, the voters' decision stands.

Or else. ;)

Quote from Mark Crispin Miller (from Salon.com) [http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/11/04/election_reactions/index1.html]

"But given Bush's low popularity ratings and the enormous number of new voters -- who skewed Democratic -- there is no way in the world that Bush got 8 million more votes this time. I think it had a lot to do with the electronic voting machines. Those machines are completely untrustworthy, and that's why the Republicans use them. Then there's the fact that the immediate claim of Ohio was not contested by the news media -- when Andrew Card came out and claimed the state, not only were the votes in Ohio not counted, they weren't even all cast."

That "or else" is, of course, the important point. :) Mosh the vote!
