The Voice Actor Question, revisited

Whilst looking for an old post, I found one from about three years ago that might do with revisiting:

When they make an animated movie of FurryMUCK / Second Life / The Internet / Your Favorite Tabletop RPG, who should voice your character?

Think of this as one of those "Writer's Block" questions they put up on the LJ Home Page.

I may make it part of the character creation process in my future tabletop games.

I'm still sticking with Kelsey Grammer for Athelind.

Well, my primary one anymore... Well, Jason Marsden is kind of a no-brainer there. ;)

But for the dragony one... Hmm. I'm looking at my answer from back then... Eh, a vaguely Bonkers/Darkwing Jim Cummings that's been vocoderized to sound metalically resonant is still a good choice.

I'd have to go with Michael Clarke Duncan

...for the dragon, not the otter, right?

[identity profile] toob.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye.

Gah! That's who I'd pick for Dracono. :D

For my LambdaMOO persona they'd have to get William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant.

Who?

[identity profile] eggshellhammer.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Orlando Bloom. Unless it's Eggshell, in which case John Kricfalusi, who voiced Ren of Ren and Stimpy.

Ah, but who is your #1 pick for the Baron Niktopolion?

[identity profile] athelind.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Despite the fact that I instinctively DROPPED my voice a half-octave to play Lord Nik, I've gotta go with David Hyde Pierce.

[identity profile] rikoshi.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow.

That's about the only time I'd be able to believe David Hyde Pierce with not just one, but two women on his arm. Er, wing.

Believe it, indeed.

And neither of them Mavis.

I have NO idea, really.

[identity profile] drakegrey.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Old choice for Drake - Ben Stiller (laid back but flusterable California dude voice)

New choice for Drake - James 'Dr Venture' Urbaniak, but using his real voice. Except when Drake gets flustered, then its Dr. Ventures.

Backup Drake voice - Jack Benny (when he was young)

Ness - Bea Benaderet, possibly in her Blanche Bickerson voice; possibly in her Betty Rubble voice.

Goose - June Foray using her 'Rocky' voice

I don't know. I guess someone who sounds exactly not like me. I'd like someone ordinary-ish, Bruce Willis maybe- but my pedantic nasal tone in real life is more akin to the adults on the Peanuts animated specials, or maybe Don Knots.

Do you get the idea I don't like my voice? Does it surprise you? :D

[identity profile] maiku84.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Maybe Christy Carlson Romano (Kim Possible) for Sofia, I haven't really given it enough thought!

Brian Blessed as the voice of Reveille D'Giovanetti!

Spelling Correction

You mean...

BRIAN BLESSED!!

Big lungs, man!

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... Steve Irwin is out of the question now so I'd have to go for some obscure local voice talents, like Rove McManus, John Clarke or Hugh Jackman.

Well, if I'm playing the kitty in a waspish mood, and he were still available, I'd want Chris Latta. Since he's no longer with us, perhaps I'd go with Frank Welker; fellow children of the 80s (and the toy-ad cartoons thereof) will appreciate the irony.

If the kitty has had too much caffeine, then possibly John Moschitta.

And of course, if the kitty is being flamboyantly wicked, the only choice is Tim Curry.

As for my tabletop RPG character, a fencing cat named Erestan Vano, I think Mandy Patinkin would do nicely.

Male: Mitch Hedberg. Yeah, I know he's passed on, but his is almost the perfect voice. If it simply must be someone alive, then Robin Williams.

Female: Janeane Garofalo, the voice actor who played Stith in Titan A.E. and Bridget in The Wild.

There shall be no voice other than James Earl Jones.

:P

[identity profile] kinkyturtle.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone from history? Jim Henson.

Anyone currently alive? Whatever voiceover artist does the best Bullwinkle voice.

[identity profile] normanrafferty.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Curtis Armstrong.

[identity profile] snobahr.livejournal.com 2008-06-21 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Conchata Ferrell, hands down.

[livejournal.com profile] chronovius thinks Anjelica Huston would be a good choice for Ursula, as well.
