Grammar PSA: It could be verse. BUT IT'S NOT.

This is one that's been popping up with increasing and irritating regularity, so I'd just like to state for the record:

"Versus"
is not a plural,
and its singular is not
"Verse."

This is more of a verbal error than a written one, thus far, largely because in writing, everyone tends to use "vs." -- but it's one I keep hearing more and more often, from people who should know better. "Pirates vs. Ninja" gets pronounced as "Pirates verse Ninja".

Let's see what Your Obedient Serpent's Grammar Guide says about this:

Yes, both "Verse" and "Versus" can be abbreviated as "vs.", but they are not interchangeable!

Stop it at once. Where did you learn this?

In Which Your Obedient Serpent Glares At His Radio

Okay, new rule:

If a song has the name of a day of the week in the title, you should only play it on that day. You should never play it on the day before or day after.

Don't play "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" on Saturday, especially not early Saturday morning when people maybe just not-awake enough to be unsure about which weekend day it is.

Exceptions are allowed, of course, if the song mentions more than one day by name, and "Everybody's Workin' for the Weekend" is appropriate any day of the week.

Oh, and every Monday should include the Boomtown Rats in the playlist, by law.

PSA: What's in YOUR wallet?

It should come to no one's surprise that a great deal of what I read on the Internet, particularly on the Friends list of this very site, concerns dragons.

It should come as no further surprise that I greatly appreciate someone taking the time to present the following:

Relevant To My Interests: Bob Basset, Leatherworker

I seem to be the last person to know this, but Bob Basset, the Russian leatherworker who does those magnificent dragon bags and masks and those equally-impressive cyberpunk/steampunk/forcepunk gasmask-helmet-things, has a LiveJournal feed, so you can see the cool stuff he's cranking out a couple of times a week.

Be advised: Basset also does the occasional BDSM-related gear—he's a leatherworker, after all*—so you might want to filter the feed if you read LJ at work.

For those not familiar with his work:

This is a messenger bag.

Further Further Confusion Confusion

It's a little late at this stage, but just to clarify matters:

Despite previous reports to the contrary, both [livejournal.com profile] quelonzia and I will be attending Further Confusion this year.

Quel will be there on Saturday; I will be there on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with possible cameos on Thursday night and Monday morning.

Caution: Due to circumstances that should be familiar to anyone who reads this journal regularly, my moods will be erratic. I may be cheerful and energetic; I may be quiet and wistful, I may be irritable and flat-out bitey. I may be all of these things in rapid succession.

I intend to be cliquish. There are a lot of good friends that I only ever see at FC, and my main reason for going this year is to see them.

Warning:
When approaching the dragon, do not initiate hugs. If the dragon is huggable, he will initiate.

Do not skritch the dragon.

Oh, and this does seem to be allergies, after all. I am not Patient Zero!
