The Hoard Potato: These Things No Longer Bring Joy

I have reached the point where Disney has honked me off enough that I just want to Marie Kondo everything they own out of my life.

This is the only possible reaction I can have to Disney+.

I was already annoyed by them completely crapping on every pre-D+ Marvel TV project; I am furious about them shoving the Fox catalog into the vault.

The prospect of new Big Franchise content almost made the monthly fees for D+ negotiable -- how many movies worth of Marvel and Star Wars mini-series are they going to offer? I live in the Bay Area; even a matinee ticket to the theater is the price of a single month of their streaming service, and an evening ticket is at least two months.

HOWEVER

The thing that has pushed me over the edge ...

The thing that has me wrestling the karaoke mike from the adorable red panda ...

Is that my Twitter feed has been full of absolutely uncritical squee over the debut of the channel.

#FirstThingIWatched is trending ... and so many of the responses are "I watched Steamboat Willie!"

AND AND AND

MOTHERFUCKERS

THAT FUCKING CARTOON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN SIXTY-THREE YEARS AGO.

I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR PEOPLE LAVISHING PRAISE OVER THE ROBBER BARONS WHO BROKE COPYRIGHT OVER IT FOR ALLOWING YOU TO PAY THEM A MONTHLY FEE TO SEE IT.

I dropped Star Trek over the CBS "All Access" paywall. I can drop Star Wars and Marvel -- the MCU, the comics, the cartoons.

The MCU ended with Endgame. Star Wars ends with Episode IX.

I do not need the Mouse.

comments
