Way, way too many shows have recorded laugh tracks. As was noted, this happend way too often. Even when they have a 'real' audience, they can't resist the temptation to 'sweeten' the laughs.

The really appalling part is that if you watch enough shows, you can hear the same damn laughs repeated. Back when it was a fairly new network, UPN had this one lady I thought of as 'The Shrieker' that was constantly heard in almost episode of every comedy show.
