Just because your grandfather is dead is no reason to continue to distinguish between your father and your grandfather, and you and your grandfather, and you and your father. "Junior" and "III" means that there was one person who was named Whatever. Whatever Junior is the second person in that family to bear the same name. That doesn't invalidate the first nameholder's claim to it.
