I recall Kirk & co settling a dispute on a planet between the Yarnks and Kharms (sp.?)...
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Bit of a non-starter really....

Life, Liberty and all that (along with certain other Self-Evident Truths) comes from the Declaration of Independence. "We the People" leads off the U.S. Constitution, which goes on to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the General Welfare, and insure the blessings of Liberty."

And no, I won't read it like William Shatner.

Will you sing it like Schoolhouse Rock?

aww. I like BS's ideosyncratic delivery (so beautifully parodied in ReBoot)

Dare I say it, the States has the advantage having stuff like that written down... in the UK it's taken as unwritten truth until it disappears...

May I admire you excellent taste in strips?

I bow in the matter to the man what has it in black & white (I have a monomania about black and white!) I was going on memories of the show that are over 20 years old.
